K-3 Lunchroom Expectations

K-3 Lunchroom Expectations

  1. All students should be sitting on their bottoms at the table.

  2. All students may choose a spot to sit at their assigned class table unless they are required to sit with the duty teacher. Students should stay at the tables attached to the wall.

Mystery PAX Player

The Mystery PAX Player is a tool we are using in the lunchroom to identify students showing great PAX behaviors. Students being picked will earn a PRIDE Dog tag. To play, the lunch duty teacher will select a number of dog tags. Anywhere from 2-4 is a good range. As you are monitoring lunch, look for students who are showing Bulldog PRIDE and good PAX behaviors. These can be students who usually struggle or students who regularly do a great job. Students should feel like this is a random occurrence and not that you are just picking students who are “good.” After a certain amount of time, you can announce whether your Mystery PAX Player was successful in earning the dog tag.

Some things to think about before playing:

  1. Make sure you predict behaviors that you would like to see. This might sound like “Today I am looking for students who are sitting and eating lunch, staying on task, and having an appropriate 0-1 voice level.” Focus on the behaviors you want to see and not behaviors you do not.

  2. When you announce your player, make sure to point out what they did well as to encourage those behaviors.

  3. It is okay that we pick students more than once. It will be impossible to not double up on students as we are all on different duty weeks. The goal will be that each student will earn this at some point, but some students will get this multiple times.
